Coming Sunday, May 28, we will have two worship services, a contemporary service (9:45 a.m.) and a traditional service (11:15 a.m.).

This coming Sunday is often called Ascension Sunday. On that day we will join with the whole church in celebrating the ascension of the risen Christ to the throne of God. We live in a nation of people that takes Ascension Day (last Thursday) off from work but, for the most part, have no idea why. Is the Ascension of Jesus really so important that it deserves a celebration day?  Come and rejoice!

Scripture reading:  Psalm 110 | Matthew 28:16-20

Sermon:  “Ascension Matters”  by Rev. Mark Vermaire

The following Sunday, June 4th, Pentecost, please wear celebratory clothing from your diverse cultures. If your culture’s clothing seems common, wear red, yellow, or orange, the colors of “tongues as of fire” that came upon the church that day.

60 years of Bazaar success! Here begins the call for your help and your donations for the November 4th Bazaar. EXCELLENCE is the name of our game and we urge you to donate your lightly used, – in great condition – household goods, clothing and books; we want to be able to offer the best to our visitors. There is a shortage of hands to sort and room to store old, tired items, also we cannot accommodate large furniture, computer or TV equipment. In June you can bring in donations, on Tuesdays or contact the church office to make other arrangements. Our efforts are multiplied a thousand times over as the proceeds are put to use by small organizations and individuals helping those in need. Please look for the list of recipients in the latest APCH Herald.

The APCH Council met on Tuesday May 16th and the approved minutes can be found at the link below. The two main topics for the meeting were the financial review where Council expressed concern on the fact that revenue is substantially behind budget and we discussed the APCH staff members in preparation for the annual reviews later this month.

Here is the Financial report for the month of April. With this update, we would like to let you know that we are still missing some of the tithings as per approval at the beginning of the year; as mentioned in the last quarterly financial report, we implore everybody to please commit and be dedicated to their tithing plans for the year.

Our budgeted income for the month of April is €41k, but we have only received €25k for the month, this leaves us with a deficit of €16k at the moment; this has now brought our total year-to-date (April) deficit to €36k. The deficit this month is not a problem at this time because we have managed to keep our spending lower compared to the previous 3 months of the first quarter to €27k, which is slightly higher than the income received for this month. We encourage everybody to be dedicated to their planned tithings for the year because without achieving the approved Income budget we will be left vulnerable and handicapped in our commitments for the year.

We would like to use this opportunity to say thank you to the whole Congregation for your continued support from all angles and encourage everybody to continue to pray for God’s intervention and provision for our Church in Jesus name.
